What is Piksi?
Think of it as decision support. Whether you are ranking your top movies, choosing a wedding cake, shortlisting baby names, or prioritising a product backlog, Piksi helps you learn about your own preferences by breaking the problem into the smallest possible decisions.
Why not just make a list?
Lists work when you already know your ranking. But when you are genuinely unsure, when there are too many options, or when the differences are subtle, forcing yourself to arrange everything in order is overwhelming. Piksi removes that burden. You never have to think about the whole list. Just answer which of two you prefer, and Piksi builds a statistically confident ranking from your choices.
How it works
- Create a deck Group the things you want to rank.
- Add items Fill your deck with options to compare.
- Compare pairs Pick your favourite from each matchup. Piksi chooses the most informative pairs for you.
- Watch rankings form Confidence grows with each comparison. Stop whenever you are satisfied.
You never have to think about the whole list. Just answer: which of these two do you prefer?
The algorithm
Piksi uses the Glicko-2 rating system to track how confident it is in each item's position. Every item starts uncertain. As you make comparisons, uncertainty drops and the ranking stabilises. Piksi also selects pairs intelligently, prioritising the matchups that will reduce uncertainty fastest, so you reach a confident ranking in fewer comparisons.
